Victor Talon comes from a fictional lineage of bald eagles that observed American military history from above battlefields, shipyards, airfields, training grounds, and command centers.

He became fascinated not by war itself, but by the difference between forces that were genuinely prepared and those that merely appeared prepared. He studied military history, strategy, logistics, intelligence, aviation, naval operations, special operations, weapons development, and civil-military relations.

Victor later embedded with American units in demanding environments, observing exercises, supply operations, mission planning, medical evacuations, maintenance failures, and the burden carried by military families.

One poorly planned operation permanently shaped his mission: those who send Americans into danger must never be allowed to hide behind vague objectives. His loyalty is to the United States, the mission, the people carrying it out, and the truth about whether America is prepared to win.
